Osmond01 February 2008

Osmond here again. Some of the comments on the last issue seemed to hint that people are a bit confused by current events in the comic.

Let me explain a little.

Webcomics are a window into an alternative reality, in a sense. It's like a shared consciousness. When the webcomics world exploded into being, something happened that joined the comics together. A network of tunnels came into being joining all the comics to each other and creating a shared reality. Some say that crossover comics or guest appearances have caused it, but no-one knows for sure. All that's certain is that it did happen.

In some comics, there are characters that are aware of thier comic character status. Most people call it 'breaking the fourth wall' but that doesn't do it justice. A character having knowledge of their own reality can have some power over thier environment. In the second issue of Battle Barge, Dave addressed the audience from within the comic, and Simon joined him in a discussion. From that point, Simon and Dave had the potential to enter Toonspace and explore, but they didn't know that.

And what about me, you may ask? Well, that's another story...

It reminds me of the "Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy" movie where they turn into wool puppets when they turn on the space ship drive. :D Anyway, I love this storyline Dave, err Osmond.
