20 July 2007 127 - More ways, more talk... |
20 July 2007
Got some good comments for the last comic, so thanks to all for that! I quite like this story so far. It''s nice to expand the world a bit and meet new people. If only the front door wasn''t so scary. Over the last couple of weeks, there has been a common topic of conversation on a couple of forums I frequent... It''s about the new change in Games Workshop policy to protect thier IP by banning any fan films. This has apparently come about due to thier inability to control every aspect of the German fan-film Damnatus. Basically, the film has been finished, is ready to go live, and GW have said no. This sucks. Big time. Majorly. I''ve seen some clips and the film looks fantastic (even though I don''t speak German). So what can be done? Realistically, probably not much. However, it''s worth a damn good try! The makers have set up an online petition as a precursor to further action, and I''d consider it a personal favour if you all would go off and sign it at the petition site here. There''s also a protest discussion here too so go look at that too. Been trying to catch up with the last few seasons of Stargate SG-1 recently. I think it''s a shame it moved to SciFi Channel for the last couple of seasons - they seem to have tried to turn it into Farscape 2. No matter, it''s still fairly enjoyable, but it just isn''t right without Colonel O''Neill. Oh well. Enjoy the comic. More Tuesday! |

Gr) On 21 July 2007 at 01:35:58, Sam said: Shame SG1 is finished. Signed the Damnatus petition, its a disgrace that such a promising production is being kept down by "The Man". On 21 July 2007 at 08:18:34, Royston Pryor said: They should be promoting fans to make their own films, after all, its the fan's money on the line, and it adds to the depth of the 40k universe. A short film comp might even boost the quality of entries. |
