Experience

I am a competent Visual Basic programmer, having studied it since my time at University.  I have been exposed to all versions of VB from 3 to 6 and have some experience of the .NET programming language and am currently self-teaching C#.NET. Development skills include competency in Visual Basic, ASP, VBScript, JavaScript, ADO, XML, COM, SQL and experience of C++, Java, Perl, plus various database methods including MS Access, MS SQL and MySQL. During my tenure with the NHS and Laser Rail I have developed these skills in commercial and public sector environments.

My last two positions have helped me develop people management and project management skills, including timescale estimation, resource management and use of project management software such as Microsoft Project. I am an effective people manager and have handled both positive and negative aspects of team management, including reviews and disciplinary procedures.

In my spare time, I have compiled training packages and business plans to aid relatives in their work as managers in their individual fields.  These jobs were a test of presentation skills, graphic design and a degree of accounting and organisational theory.  I have designed promotional material for voluntary organisations and charities. I developed, host and maintain the Butterflies Derbyshire ADHD Support Network website and community at www.butterfiles-adhd.com.
